For his second feature film, Charles Matton directed Spermula in a specific historical period, following a first wave of so-called “erotic” films, including Les Valseuses by Bertrand Blier (1974) or Emmanuelle by Just Jaeckin (1974). A dreamlike tale, Spermula is a luxuriant hymn to beauty and to women, which exalts colors and lights, evoking the flamboyant architectural aesthetics of the 1930s . !
