A small town in the Southwest, in the 1930s. The Pedrets, a family of notables at the head of the local factory, marry their youngest son Prosper to Regina, a young woman of his rank. Soon it's his brother Hector's turn to formalize his relationship with Berthe, the local laundress. The young woman then enters the family and will become over time the true chief of the clan thanks to her authority and her charisma...

The director of My Favorite Season and Farewell to the Night chronicles the life of a family from the provincial bourgeoisie, marked by the upheavals of French society over a period of 30 years. Long invisible, and now available in its new restoration supervised by André Téchiné and his director of photography Bruno Nuytten, Souvenirs d'en France is a founding work in the career of this eminently romantic filmmaker but always in touch with reality.
