The story of an apprenticeship and the birth certificate of a great actress
Recently arrived in Paris in the hope of becoming an actress, Nina is looking for an apartment. She sympathizes with Paulot, an employee of a real estate agency, who offers to take her in temporarily. Her meeting with Quentin, her roommate, does not go well and the young woman hastily leaves the place. Despite Paulot's kindness and thoughtfulness, Nina nevertheless feels irremediably drawn to the dark and disturbing Quentin...
Prize for directing at the 1985 Cannes Film Festival, Rendez-vous tells the story of a sentimental, sexual and theatrical education, that of its heroine Nina embodied by the revelation Juliette Binoche. In this cold and oppressive urban universe, director André Téchiné dares to reflect cruelly on the ambiguity of male/female relationships and on the pangs of artistic creation. A superb initiatory film written with the collaboration of Olivier Assayas, presented for the first time in its new restoration.
