In Rome, Scintillone and Ruggeretto, two young idle outcasts, have stolen a car and its cargo. After picking up some bickering prostitutes on the way, the buddies organize a spree to resell their loot. With the help of Gino the beautiful, a small-time crook they met at a funeral, they find a scheme and pocket a jackpot. The three boys then decide to take advantage of the girls and run away before paying them...
A chronicle of petty crime in the vein of Accatone , Les Garçons paints a portrait of a youth specializing in seedy schemes and accumulating one-day or one-night conquests. Based on a screenplay by Pier Paolo Pasolini, Mauro Bolognini depicts a society where everything is for sale and where, behind the codes of tradition, everyone seeks to swindle their neighbor with unbridled anger.
