"A poignant funeral meditation steeped in humanity" Télérama
1969, Virginia. At Arlington Military Cemetery, Lt. Jackie Willow is buried with national honors. Before leaving to fight in Vietnam, the latter had made his debut within Fort Myer itself, chaperoned by Sergeant Clell Hazard. Between this Korean veteran who has ceased to believe in the necessity of this war and the young idealist Willow, a strong bond had been forged over the months...
Eight years after the grand Apocalypse Now , Francis Ford Coppola once again delves into the Vietnam War, this time choosing to show behind the scenes. Only located at the rear of the conflict, stone gardens renews the genre of the war film by swapping the spectacular for sobriety and the intimate. Through his hero played by James Caan, the filmmaker delivers a poignant reflection on the life of a soldier, between pride, guilt and doubt.
