"A film that bears the mark of Welles' genius in every scene." The world
New HD restoration
Europe, 1950s. Just before dying, a man named Bracco drops the names of two people involved in his assassination: Gregory Arkadin, a tycoon of Russian origin, and a mysterious Sophie. A small American mobster who witnessed the scene, Guy van Stratten decides to investigate Arkadin with the help of his friend Mily. But the situation soon takes a completely different turn: van Stratten is hired by Arkadin to investigate the latter's troubled past...
In the middle of European exile, Orson Welles signs with Secret File aka Mr. Arkadin a grandiose and cosmopolitan spy film. With a dazzling and fragmented staging reminiscent of Citizen Kane , this bigger than life work is by turns baroque, grotesque and disturbing. A journey to a romantic and threatening Europe, to be discovered for the first time in its restored High Definition version!
