AN ADAPTATION OF HENRY JAMES ILLUMINATED BY CYBILL SHEPHERD

"POETIC AND ELEGIAC, […] LIVELY AND STINGING."
WES ANDERSON

American Daisy Miller travels through Europe with her mother and younger brother. In Switzerland, she meets Frederick Winterbourne, a compatriot long exiled on the Old Continent. His charm and candor intrigue and seduce the young aristocrat. Their paths soon cross in Rome where Daisy's eccentricity will quickly shock the closed circle of American expatriates...

Building on the success of his previous films We're packing, doctor? and Cotton candy , Peter Bogdanovich signs the adaptation of the short story Daisy Miller by the American Henry James and entrusts the title role to his muse Cybill Shepherd ( The Last Picture Show ), who here gracefully embodies an emancipated, extroverted and mischievous heroine. Inspired as much by the work of James as by the worlds of John Ford and Howard Hawks, Peter Bogdanovich makes this story of love and misunderstandings a metaphor for the relationship between Europe and America, and signs a modern film about melancholy and loneliness.
