The New York trilogy that defined independent cinema!

During the 1950s, Morris Engel and Ruth Orkin revolutionized cinema by directing and producing films outside of Hollywood studios. First with Little Fugitive, considered the very first independent film in American cinema, then Lovers and Lollipops and Weddings and Babies, they created works that embraced freedom, filming the daily reality of their contemporaries as closely as possible, most often from the perspective of children. At once funny, moving and timeless, these three founding films of independent cinema are an incomparable tribute to New York, from its working-class neighborhoods, Brooklyn and Little Italy, to its icons, the Statue of Liberty and Central Park.
