A mythical actress from the golden age of Japanese cinema, immortalized on screen by Kenji Mizoguchi, Yasujiro Ozu or Mikio Naruse, Kinuyo Tanaka made an impression by becoming the first post-war female filmmaker. This pioneer in her country made six films between 1953 and 1962, in which Kinuyo Tanaka touched on all genres, moving brilliantly from intimate melodrama to period fresco, from sentimental comedy to learning story.
