THE WORLD
New Zealand, 19th century. Ada, mother of a nine-year-old girl, is about to share her life with a stranger deep in the bush. Her new husband agrees to transport all her possessions, except for her most precious item: a piano, which ends up with an illiterate neighbor. Unable to accept this loss, Ada agrees to the deal he proposes: to earn back the piano, key by key, by submitting to his whims…
Winner of the Palme d'Or at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival, The Piano is the third film by New Zealand director Jane Campion, following the acclaimed Sweetie and An Angel at My Table . The writer-director brilliantly plays with the conventions of classicism to tell the story of this highly erotic love triangle, magnificently portrayed by Holly Hunter ( Crash ), Harvey Keitel ( Reservoir Dogs ), and Sam Neill ( Jurassic Park ). With its enchanting landscapes and intoxicating score, The Piano is a delicate yet fiery portrait of romantic passion, available for the first time in 4K Ultra HD™ (presented in Dolby Vision™ [HDR10 compatible]) and Blu-ray™ in its new 4K restoration supervised and approved by Jane Campion and cinematographer Stuart Dryburgh .
