In this amoral chronicle which admirably describes the entertainment of a bored rural America, the great cinematographer Néstor Almendros ( The Harvests of the Sky ) manages to sublimate the combat scenes, distilling both dread and brutality than poetry. Favorite actor of Monte Hellman as of Sam Peckinpah, Warren Oates ( Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia ) is exceptional in this almost silent role of a magnificent loser.
