THE DIRECTOR OF PARIS, TEXAS PAYS TRIBUTE TO OZU

AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME ON BLU-RAY

“THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TESTIMONY THAT THE LOVE OF CINEMA HAS EVER EQUIRED ON A SCREEN.”
THE WORLD

Spring 1983. Twenty years after the death of the great director Yasujiro Ozu, Wim Wenders decides to go to Tokyo in the footsteps of his cinema master. While the latter documented through his films the metamorphoses of life in Japan from the end of the 1920s to the beginning of the 1960s, are there still images of his cinematographic universe in the capital?

Forty years before Perfect Days , his new Tokyo adventure, Wim Wenders wanders day and night through a frenetic city, venturing into pachinko halls and parks where teenagers dance rock. On his way, he also crosses paths with two devotees of the Ozu universe, actor Chishu Ryu and cinematographer Yuharu Atsuta, as well as his compatriot Werner Herzog. Enlightened by the thoughts and impressions of its director, Tokyo-ga takes a nostalgic look at the ephemeral nature of things and the fragile beauty of cinema. A “filmed diary” as exciting as it is sensitive, to be discovered for the first time on Blu-ray™ in its new 2K restoration.
