June 1940. The young soldier Laforêt unfortunately loses his regiment at a bend in the road. He tries to find his comrades, in vain. He then began to wander through the landscapes of Aveyron. His wanderings lead him to come across a whole gallery of singular characters...

The only feature film by director and producer Guy Cavagnac, Le Soldat Laforêt is an elegant anti-militarist fable with timeless charm. Through this atypical portrait of the French countryside, the filmmaker praises wandering and slowness by telling the story of this young soldier – formidable Roger Van Hool – who discovers the art of strolling. A tender and poetic work to discover for the first time on DVD and restored in High Definition.
