Adapted from the second volume of Louis Cha's "Condor Trilogy" and directed by Hua Shan, The Dragon Girl combines the best of traditional and modern wuxia , as reflected in its cast, where kung fu veterans Chen Kuan-tai and Lo Lieh appear alongside rising Hong Kong film star Leslie Cheung . Ten years later, Cheung would also star in Jeff Lau's The Legend of the Heroic Eagle , an adaptation of the first book in the trilogy.
