Daniel Schmid’s cinema unfolds on the border of theater, dreams, and artifice. With La Paloma, Shadow of Angels (based on a play by R.W. Fassbinder, who plays one of the main characters here) and Notre Dame de la Croisette, made between 1974 and 1981, the Swiss director composes a triptych dominated by artifice, melancholy, and a critical view of the entertainment world, featuring two great icons of the 1970s, actresses Ingrid Caven and Bulle Ogier.
