Among Charles Matton's films – three shorts and four feature films – finally released on DVD, some were acclaimed upon their release by critics and the public, others are less well known; two shorts were recently found in cellars, after years of searching. In a different way, all are UFOs: when Matton left his painting and sculpture studio for a film set, it was because of an irrepressible need to communicate a story, with great artistic freedom.

In the book of this Box, Richard Bohringer, Charles Matton's favorite actor, remembered his exceptional creative power, which he witnessed on his shoots. The film was first created on paper, obsessively. It is these unpublished, prodigious, often amusing documents (handwritten notes, drawings, storyboards, etc.) that have built this book.

Written by Sylvie Matton, wife and collaborator of Charles Matton for more than thirty years, this Book / DVD Box reveals to us behind the scenes of the making of his films and the secrets of filming, in the intimacy of a total creation.
