A classic war movie directed by one of Hollywood's mavericks
New HD restoration
At the end of the Indochina war, a commando from the Foreign Legion prepares to carry out one last mission: to destroy the tunnels containing the stock of weapons of the communist fighters led by Commander Cham. For this, they call on an attractive Eurasian woman nicknamed Lucky Legs. Having set up an alcohol trade in the region and knowing Cham well, only she can help them carry out their mission. But the presence of her ex-husband, Sergeant Brock, who abandoned her at the birth of their son, will create many tensions within the group...
Along with I Lived Through Hell in Korea (1951) and Beyond Glory (1980), China Gate is one of the major war films in American Samuel Fuller's filmography. Set during the Indochinese conflict, the story of this courageous mother, embodied by the prodigious Angie Dickinson who here co-stars with actor Gene Barry and singer Nat “King” Cole, is a passionate and fascinating indictment against war and racism. An eminently personal work in the career of the great Fuller, to be discovered for the first time on Blu-ray and DVD in its restored version!
