The year 1939 corresponds to a turning point in the career of Alfred Hitchcock. The year of his departure for the United States, it is also the year that marks the beginning of a nearly ten-year collaboration with the famous American producer David O. Selznick ( Gone with the Wind , Duel in the Sun ). This association between the master of suspense and one of the most important representatives of the Hollywood system gave birth to four masterpieces: the Gothic romance Rebecca (1940), the psychoanalytic thriller The House of Doctor Edwardes (1945), the film spy film Les Enchaînés (1946) and the legal thriller Le Procès Paradine (1947).
